Editorial Services

Nancy has more than 20 years of experience as a writer and editor. Her goal is to make your material sing, in your style, in your voice. She interferes as little as possible, but polishes, rearranges, and refines.

We can offer you three different levels of services:

• A good proofreading/grammatical scrub.
  No “editing” here – just checking spelling, grammar, and word usage so that you can avoid embarrassing errors.
  
  
• Line editing.
  Here we get out the blue pencil and go to work. We check paragraph structure, rhythm, and general readability. Something not clear? Too many sentences structured the same way? We take a good critical look with the goal of making you look brilliant.
  
  
• Developmental editing.
  Have a great idea, but just can’t seem to make it work? We can analyze your manuscript from a 360-degree perspective. How does it flow? Is it credible? Is it too fast-paced, or too plodding? Would this scene be more effective if it were moved forward (or farther back)? Have you inadvertently set something up after it happened? Or have the results of an event before it takes place?
  
  Normally we charge $50/hour, but as a website special, we will offer you any of these services for $35/hour. There is a two-hour minimum, and for developmental editing, a $400 minimum charge for a book manuscript of 50,000 words or more, $100 minimum charge for short stories and plays.
